Congratulations MAX Masters

My second year being involved in the planning of MAX was even more rewarding than the first. And the average scores for all of ours speakers were up over last year so it seems like the content is resonating with attendees and we continue to draw great speakers. Thanks to everyone who spoke at MAX this year for making it a huge success.

But we also like to call out the best of the best. This year it was really tough to be a MAX Master and so a huge congrats to the following speakers who made the cut.

Flex Mobile European Tour 2011

Next week I’m going to be hitting the road with my colleague Mihai Corlan to spread the news about what Adobe has been up to the past few months. The primary reason for the trip is to show off the work the product teams have done with Flex on devices. Mihai and I are going to be doing some hands-on sessions showing just how easy it is to build great looking applications for iOS and Android. Bring your laptop, a copy of Flash Builder, and a device and we’ll walk you through all the steps you need to go through to start building and deploying mobile applications.

The other part of these events is providing some firsthand demos of some of the things we showed off at MAX. I think MAX was a major turning point for Adobe and Mihai and I will be showing off the touch tooling, talking about the creative cloud, and showing all of the things Adobe is up to in the world of HTML5. Plus we’ll give you some sneak peaks of the next generation of the Flash Platform. So there’s a ton of info and you’ll have the chance to ask questions firsthand. 2012 is going to be a great ride for the Adobe community so we want to make sure you have all the info you need to be successful.

Here are the cities we’re hitting:

Update: For those of you in the UK, there is an event on Monday, the 7th. I couldn’t make it out in time for that, but Mihai will be there covering everything.

November 9th

November 10th

November 11th

November 14th

November 15th

November 17th

Can’t wait to see you and talk about application development and Adobe’s 2012.

Come to 360Flex and Win a Free MAX Pass

360 Flex QR Code

360Flex in DC is coming up very, very soon. It’s arguably one of the best Flex events out there. MAX is also coming up shortly thereafter, which is where you’ll be hearing about all kinds of cool Adobe goodness. What’s better than each one of those? Coming to both. So I’m running a contest. If you’re at 360Flex you’ll have a chance to win a free pass to MAX along with Creative Suite 5. Here’s the deal:

At 360Flex I’m going to be hiding a bunch of QR codes around the venue (and in some of the presenter’s slides). Each one of those QR codes will point to a random URL, which will let you put in your email address. The person who collects the most QR codes during the conference (or the first one who collects them all) will win a free pass to MAX and Master Collection CS5. The runner up still gets a free copy of Master Collection CS5.

All you need to play is some kind of barcode application for your phone. They have free apps for both iPhone and Android (and I’m guessing Blackberry) so everyone with a smartphone should be covered.

So if you haven’t registered for 360Flex yet, get on it. Where else do you get to hang out with the coolest community on earth?

Can’t be at MAX This Year? Catch it Online Live!

max-online-screenshotEveryone I talk to is starting to get excited about MAX. Maybe it’s the Mark Hamill appearance, maybe it’s that some of the new features of the Flash Platform are starting to leak out, or maybe everyone is just excited to see a bunch of friends and hang out to talk tech. The keynotes this year should get Flash developers really excited about the platform. We’ve got some great stuff to show off and a couple of surprises that people will be talking about.

online_maxIf you can’t make it, you’ll be missing out on the networking and the chance to bother talk to the engineering teams but we still want to give you as much access to the conference as possible. So this year we’ll be streaming the keynotes live AND if you show up 10 minutes early you’ll get some behind the scenes peeks that even the regular attendees won’t get to see. There’s going to be some special content just for those of you watching online and we’re going to make it fun and entertaining so you not only get to see the news live but also get some insight into what’s happening at MAX.

In addition, the team is making the most popular sessions in our three tracks – Design, Develop, and Envision – available each day and the other sessions will be following shortly thereafter. So you not only get the info live from the keynote but you can see the best sessions at MAX from wherever you are.

MAX Keynotes and Cocomo Sessions on Adobe TV

Adobe TV has posted some great content. We’ve got the first two keynote sessions (Day 1 here, and Day 2 here). Those are both worth it just for the sweet introduction animation.

Two Cocomo sessions are also up from MAX. I’ve been digging into Cocomo the past couple of weeks and am really, really digging it. I think this is going to kick ass for Flex developers, so check out the sessions if you’re interested in adding collaboration and real-time communication to your apps.

Be In the MAX Keynote

Ted is giving anyone out there a chance to be in the MAX Keynote. We’re creating a video to play at the keynotes in North America, Europe, and Japan and all you need to do is record a 30 second video that answers the question: “Why MAX?”. If you’ve seen Philip Kerman’s “Why” vids you know exactly what we’re looking for – something funny, creative, and interesting.

Once you’ve made the video, just upload it to YouTube and tag it with “30onMax“. Then the MAX team will go through and select the best ones and include them in the keynote video.

My “Thermo” Talk at MAX

I’m giving a few talks in the next couple of months, but with all due respect to the 360Flex guys, the one I’m most excited about is my MAX talk – Next-Generation Flex Authoring: In Depth. I’m not a huge fan of the title (and it may change) but I’m going to be providing walkthroughs and demos of Thermo and Flex Builder Next. If you’re interested in how to use Flex Builder and Thermo to collaborate between designers and developers, you’ll want to catch the session.

And what’s even better is that it’s a Monday session. That leaves you the rest of the week to attend Serge and NJ’s session on Creative Design for Flex Applications. They’re doing a 90 minute lab/workshop deep dive so you’ll be able to jump in and start messing with Thermo. Between my session and that lab, you should be all set to Thermoize your life. MAX is going to be kick ass this year and I can guarantee you that between Flex and Thermo, MAX is going to be ground zero for really revolutionizing the designer-developer workflow. And we’ve got a few surprises with regards to the platform and workflow that I think are going to make people very happy.

Here’s to better looking, more engaging applications.
