As a former (Platform) Evangelist for Microsoft, I'm using Adobe Flex/AIR for the reasons that Mini-Microsoft described.

Flex/AIR has the delicate fragrance of a platform on the verge of becoming a de facto standard. Tie it into the cloud in a cloud-API-neutral way, and you're golden.

As a C# developer for a living I have been writing Flex apps for this same reason for my "after work" customers for several years. Windows development is just too fragmented and not productive. Far too much plumbing, customers just want the job done. Flex delivers!
