CoCoMo - Collaboration for Every Developer
Along with the Flash Platform news, we’ve released CoCoMo, one of the coolest products at Adobe. CoCoMo is basically a framework that lets you add collaboration to any Flex application out there. It comes with a few basic components like video chat, text chat, and whiteboards, but it also includes hooks so that you can build your own real-time collaborative application.

Real-time collaboration on the web is something that I think has just barely hit it’s stride. CoCoMo uses the Flash Platform, AMF, and our various server products to enable any developer with the power to create a collaborative application. You can host it all on Adobe’s servers and we’ll take care of the hardware infrastructure for you. So basically you can now take any Flex application and add video chat, whiteboards, or your own personal collaboration requirements to it and start differentiating yourselves from customers.
This is a big, big deal. I can’t wait to see what people do with it. You can check out my interview with the CoCoMo folks on AdobeTV for more info.

Hi Ryan, what is your thoughts on comments like the ones here flashcomguru, that say Adobe is pushing in on developers territory with this product.
I tend to agree that cocomo seems to overlap a fair bit with FMS at the very least.

cocomo doens’t work. I have the FP10 debug player installed and I can’t get passed the create user name screen.

Should be titled ‘CoCoMo - Collaboration for Every Developer if you use Flex, forget it again if you use Flash’

I am experiencing the same situation mentioned by corbanb. maybe I’ll try it later again.

Hey guys, I’ll pass along that error. I actually had the same thing happen to me and it was because the username I wanted was already taken. You might try making sure you have a unique username like ‘cocomoyourname’
@Mke, yup, it requires that you use the Flex framework.

This looks nice. I’ve always been a fan of the Flash collaboration technologies; cool to see it integrated with Flex.

I had the same problem. Worked using Ryan’s workaround now.
Why couldn’t they just use the Adobe Screen Name?

Hi Ryan,
Are there any targeted price range? Any idea?
I hope it would not be like Adobe Connect etc.

Hey Oguz, I don’t know for sure what our plans are for pricing, but I’ll double check and see if I can get a ballpark figure.

Wouahouu…
Amazing! RTC given to everyone without to manage any FMS!
In fact, I was really waiting a lot for Flash Catalyst. But this thing is just .. crazy!! And it’s such a surprise! I was so excited discovering Cocomo!
I don’t know exactly what will be the price (depending on the bandwith used I think ^^), but it’s really, really a nice stuff!
Two friends and I were trying to make a videogame, trying to “simulate” a real time connection with just php/Flex/Necko, but now…. so easy to use, so easy to customize,
just the best thing I’ve ever seen for the last year!
Thanks a lot to the Adobe team.

And thanks for your video-interview too, it’s allways really interesting
Web 10.0 is there
