Getting Ready for My 360 Flex Presentation in Style

I’m giving my Online/Offline Synchronization with Adobe AIR and LCDS presentation at 360Flex next week and I had a couple of things I wanted to finish on the presentation. But I’ve been staying with my parents and wanted to get in some Colorado backpacking. Luckily, the life of an Adobe evangelist is awesome. I’ve got my local CF server, Flex Builder, and a laptop, so I packed it with the rest of my stuff and when we got to camp I did a little backcountry coding.

Also, I’m pretty sure I’m going to look like a leprous raccoon for my presentation on Wednesday. I got really, really sunburned while I was wearing my sunglasses so I look ridiculous and it’s probably going to be peeling when I present. Apologies in advance.

I’m hoping to grab a bunch of videos of various Flex developers who are doing cool stuff at 360Flex so if you want to show of what you’re up to, send me an email at my shiny new Adobe email address – ryan@adobe.com.

    Nice place to code!

I’m sure it’s the best one to get inspired :)

    Evengelist’s life is so hard… ;)

It could be a nice contest to work from the nicest place we can & to share videos :p

    Enjoy your Max sunburst presentation!

Offtopic, but have you seen that the BBC has an AIR app for following the Olympics. See it here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/olympics/monkey/7479984.stm

Man, how could you even concentrate with that scenery. I would take one look at a tag and immediately run and frolic.

Ha, that’s hysterical. Good job. I’m not sure I’d be able to bring my laptop with me into the back country. Afterall, I spent good money just to purchase a down sleeping bag that weighed just over a pound. Not sure if I could justify the $330 sleeping bag only to carry a 5 pound laptop.

However, just in case, how do you charge your lappy in the backcountry?

Be careful not to stand in front of the projector during your presentation or it will just add to the burn.

  • ryanstewart

@Jean-Christophe, that would be a cool competition.

@Matt, I need to blog about that, thanks for reminding me.

@Kevin, if I had any energy at all I would have. But I was tired out from carrying the laptop up the pass.

@Todd, yeah, this isn’t the lightweight way to go. I need to get a Mac Book Air I think.

@polyGeek, maybe the light from the projector would actually reduce my sunburn the same way my monitor seems to take away my tan? :)

I think my fiancee would dump me if I took my laptop with me when backpacking. I spend too much time on the thing already! But that scenery is just stunning.

Backcountry coding is brilliant, I’ve only gotten so far as malls, parks, but hadn’t thought of taking the laptop into the wild. That’s some beautiful Colorado scenery, for some reason I’ve been thinking you were in Washington.

you just made me feel a little less guilty for working from Tahoe today :)

  • ryanstewart

Lee, I am in Seattle usually, but my parents live in Colorado and I’m spending the week with them. I decided to get a little backpacking in on the side.

Oh come on this is fake. I mean you work for Adobe.. Photoshop, AEffects..

Kidding. I have a question though.. What is that black dot above the sun?

  • ryanstewart

@Savvas, that’s just how the sun shows up on camera. I’m not sure why but I’m sure there is some cool photo-video reason for it.
