New Version of Connect Pro Out

May 5th, 2008 by ryanstewart

One of the more interesting products at Adobe is Connect and we just released a new version today (it was codenamed “Brio” Update: It’s not Brio. More later.). If you haven’t checked out Connect, you should give it a shot. It’s a web conferencing system that’s based all on Flash so it works cross platform. It allows for video/audio conferencing, whiteboard, screen sharing, chat, and record meetings for replay later. I think it’s a great example of a rich Internet application and it’s a case of Adobe eating it’s own dogfood with Flash and Flex.

Along with the release of Connect we have a new product called Adobe Presenter. I’m not familiar with Presenter but it looks like it hooks into PowerPoint and lets you add interactivity and rich media to your PowerPoint presentations. You can actually publish those presentations as PDF and all of the animations and videos will work. Then of course you can take that PDF and put it up on Share to embed it on your blog or send it to people.

Actually, Adobe presenter isn’t a new product. It came from the Macromedia acquisition of Presedia.

Cool! Was it always part of Connect or was it a separate product?

It preceded breeze and when breeze was created it fell under the same umbrella.
