$100k+ Flex Jobs

While watching the Lakers/Suns game I saw the add for The Ladder, the job site that deals in only “100k+ jobs” and thought I’d see what the results for Flex look like. The average salary for Flex jobs according to Indeed was about $77k but I get the feeling that a lot of people (especially those who follow the blogosphere) are making more and the The Ladder sites seem to bear that out. In my search of Flex jobs I got 47 jobs with everything from an Advanced Flex 2 ActionScript 3 developer in San Mateo, CA at $100k to a Sr. Front End Engineer in San Mateo for between $120k – $130k.

I’m not a huge fan of The Ladder (good thing I’m not looking for a job) because the interface was kind of unintuitive and it’s very geared towards the pay membership (you don’t get much at all for the basic membership). But if you’re looking for a Flex job, this might be one place to try.

Wouldn’t that be something like 60k everywhere else in the country after you factor in the cost of living? 100K sounds good until you realize that it is only 5K above the poverty line in California. Hehe :)

I subscribed to the ladder for a month and I have to say, if I had about 7 strong years of experience and a ton of accomplishments in a very specific field, it would be a great place to go to over the typical monster.com sites. I work in mortgage and am basically a salesman but even when I searched for sales jobs it was insane what they were looking for in terms of credentials. If you dont pay the monthly fee, the site is basically useless, but if you do pay, you get a free consultation from a resume writer, tons of job access, and you can even email out from a list of job recruiters. I wish they had a ladder for 50-90k a year jobs. That seemed to be more where I would fit in. Great post and go Mavs.
