Papervision3D in Public Beta

I just saw that Papervision3D is now in public beta (with support for Flash 8, Flash CS3 and Flex) and they’ve done a bunch of things to encourage community involvement with the project.  To start with, they’ve released it under an MIT Open Source license and created a code repository in Google Code. They also have documentation for the APIs and a Wiki for the project.

If you haven’t seen Papervision3D, there are some examples here, here (sweet X-Wing Demo) and here. There is also a cool promo video they created here. It’s basically a 3D rendering engine built in Flash and the performance is quite good. This project was all driven by the community out of a desire for some 3D interactivity in Flash. It’s a good story with an even better result at the end. Congrats guys!
