Lots of New Info About Buiding AIR Apps with Flash CS3

July 2nd, 2007 by ryanstewart

It’s been a good week/weekend for anyone who wants to use Flash CS3 to build Adobe AIR applications. First came the official word from Richard Galvan about the extension that we’re working on to allow you to publish your Flash apps as AIR applications. It will be a part of the publish menu so the experience should be pretty seamless for Flash users. We’re going to be shipping a version of this with the next public release of AIR.

But if you can’t wait, Grant Skinner has been working away at creating an extension to Flash CS3 that lets you build AIR apps with it right now. He released it today and it looks like people are already digging in. Grant has all the steps to get it set up and the extension lets you configure the settings in your AIR apps to your hearts content.

It’s a bummer that the Flash CS3 guys haven’t been able to get up and running with AIR yet, but it’s been very cool to watch the community step in. Hopefully this means we’ll see more Flash talent building AIR apps. I need more good demos to show customers :)
