My Q1 2007 Top Flex Firms

Ted Patrick posted his list of top Flex firms for the Q1 2007. I was really excited when he sent me the link because no one has really tried to draw out the top Flex firms before, and we should! I would love to do an industry wide survey on all of the top RIA firms out there including rates, typical job size, revenue, all that stuff, but the industry is still too young and I’m not sure anyone would give me that data.

But I thought Ted’s list was a bit of a cop out, because it seems to me like he listed almost every firm that does Flex. He makes very clear that it’s his “personal” list, and the comments on the blog post seem to indicate that his choices are not universal. So I’m listing my own Top Flex firms. I talk to a lot of people in the RIA world, but not nearly as many as Ted does, so my list is smaller. It’s comprised of firms that I have talked with customers of and heard only good things. There are some firms I like and respect that I just haven’t heard customer stories form, so sadly, they don’t make the list. Without further ado, here are my favorite firms:

United States

Asia Pacific

That’s it. I left off some big names, and there are undoubtedly people in the enterprise working with some good Flex firms that I don’t hear about. But the 3 firms above are firms I’ve talked to a lot of different customers about and heard nothing but good things. Put another way, when someone asks me which Flex shop they should go to, I send them to one of these three places. No one has ever come back to tell me it was a bad move.

I’d love to add to this list, so email me, let me talk to your customers and see what they have to say. Also, if you’ve dealt with anyone on this list or Ted’s, drop me a note. I’ll keep it totally confidential, and I’d love to hear what you have to say about the state of Flex firms.

    Ryan,

It looks like a “cop out” from your perspective but there are about 70+ firms committed to Flex development and those are limited to the one’s I know. I selected firms that I have worked with and who have delivered multiple times. There are many others given that I have received 35+ emails this morning from firms delivering Flex that I have never heard of.

    I think we need a directory…

    Cheers,

    Ted :)

We do need a directory. And as I said, as a Flex evangelist, you pound the ground way more than I do. I think my definition of ‘firm’ may be different than other people’s as well.
