IMO Apollo isn't about bringing Web Apps to the Desktop. It's about bringing a different type of functionality or an extension of your web applications/services to the desktop. Some things (in my mind) just seem better suited in the desktop environment. I plan on still building my Web Apps in the same manner; It's just now I can leverage the power of my web development skills on the desktop to provide a different or more robust experience to a variety of users. IMO Apollo isn’t about bringing Web Apps to the Desktop.

It’s about bringing a different type of functionality or an extension of your web applications/services to the desktop. Some things (in my mind) just seem better suited in the desktop environment.

Tom's got an app that is perfectly suited for apollo. Flex made the app easier (He started in Flash) to build, Apollo will make it easier to deliver.
