Big Rumors for Microsoft MIX

MIX, Microsoft’s designer/developer conference in May was always going to be interesting. With “WPF/E” on the horizon and Microsoft’s design suite, Expression Studio, launching, the conference looked at the very least like a chance to see what people thought of the new Microsoft stuff.

But recently, I’ve been getting rumors of bigger and bigger news coming out of MIX. It’s nothing I have concrete enough to talk about, but I’ve gotten bits of information from multiple sources that Microsoft is planning to make some fairly significant announcements. I’m hoping to have more info, but I’m not much of a “story breaker” so it may just wait until MIX.

As Microsoft and Adobe have started moving into each others territory, things have intensified. It’s been unfortunate to watch the rivalry get ugly in some places, but there’s a lot at stake. While Microsoft is starting off at a huge disadvantage, they definitely got Adobe’s attention. I think this is going to mean a lot of innovation in a short timespan. Capitalism at it’s best :)

All the (supposed) news out of MIX should make Dx3 very interesting.

    Its all lies, we are announcing the resurrection of Windows 3.11 at Mix 07.. it will be a sight :)

    How do you know its not staged rivalry either :)

    MIX07 is going to be a sight to see and looking forward to post MIX07 :)

    Yes, thank you for spending more time talking about what IS going down in the RIA scene vs what MAY go down. I like the fact that when you talk about something, there’s usually a link to find out more. I hate stories that speculate and leave nothing for me to play with or links to find out more. Bravo, my friend, bravo!

    Some would say this post contradicts that, but I’d disagree. I’d see this more as a “Hey, heads up on a reason why you might want to hit up Mix 07″ type post.

    Whatever they announce, I hope they ship it. I’ve been dealing with Sparkle rumors since 2001… Acrylic has removed significant functionality since its prior CH Expression release and first previews… there’s the whole WinFX and Longhorn pattern too.

    If the big news is only “We’ll have big news at Max08″ then I’ll break down and cry…. ;-)

    Sparkle? you still using that.. you know there have been further CTCP releases sin…oh wait, you’re Adobe. Good to see our “compete firewall” is up :)

    Forget the news releases, the fact that Microsoft and Pussycat dolls are in the same room… pft, that’s the plane ticket alone anything extra is a bonus.
