Rich Internet Applications Springing up at More Conferences

I just noticed an article over on InfoQ that mentions a couple of conferences that I didn’t realize had some decent-looking RIA tracks (they also mention 360Flex). The first is Desktop Matters, which is a one-day conference by the team at Ajaxian and revolves around Java Desktop Development. But if you’re planning on going to Desktop Matters, it looks like they’ll have both a Windows Presentation Session as well as an Apollo session. Kevin Hoyt is listed from Adobe, so I’m assuming he’s giving the Apollo talk.

The other is QCon, InfoQ’s conference in London. They have an entire track for RIAs which looks like mostly Ajax but is going to have a session by Christophe Coenraets about Flex and Apollo. There is also a .NET track which has some a WPF session.

Now these probably aren’t worth going to by themselves, but it’s good to see RIAs being part of the wider conference landscape. Matt Voerman and I are going to do a breakdown of can’t miss RIA conferences this year early next week over on The Universal Desktop.

    Hey Ryan,

Yup, that’ll be me speaking on Apollo at Desktop Matters.

I also be at AJAXWorld in NY on March 19 – 21, where I’ll be giving a talk on “Bringing Sexy Back to the Enterprise” among other activities. I was at O’Reilly eTech last year and it was among the most RIA-centered crowd I’ve encountered. I’ll be there again this year (as well others from Adobe from March 26 -29). I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my favorite smallest show, Spring Break 2007 in Athens, Ohio on March 22, which boast a number of RIA-centered presentations (including two from yours truly).

And then there’s JavaOne and the likes just around the bend. Whew! Go, Flex, go!

    Kevin
