[...] Adobe Robohelp 6 Is Now Available Adobe today announced RoboHelp 6 which is also the first major upgrade to Macromedia RoboHelp X5 ever since the Help authoring software became part of Adobe. [Thanks, Ryan] Adobe Robohelp 6 is less confusing than Robohelp X5 since the different editions like RoboHelp Office, RoboHelp Office Pro, RoboEngine, and RoboInfo have all been integrated into RoboHelp 6 itself. The two most interesting features of Robohelp 6 for technical writers, screencasters and trainers include: 1. Integration with Adobe Captivate 2 - you can import Flash simulations from Captivate directly into Robohelp. 2. Robohelp 6 now has an inbuilt screen capture tool called RoboScreen Capture that lets you capture or edit screenshots without requiring any third-party software like SnagIt. [RoboScreen Capture was sold as a separate screen capturing utility during the days when RoboHelp was part of eHelp] It will be interesting to see how MadCap reacts to Robohelp 6. MadCap was formed by a group of former Macromedia Robohelp Developers who later launched MadCap Flare, a direct competitor to RoboHelp. A 30 day trial version of the software is available from the Adobe website but once that expires, you will have to buy a Robohelp product key from Adobe to activate the software. Download Robohelp 6 [Size: 224.5 MB] Like Adobe Acrobat 8, Robohelp 6 may not be compatible with Microsoft Office Word 2007 or Windows Vista though a patch may be in the works for sure. PS: Adobe Robohelp 6 is shipping in January 2007, so we almost got it right. [...]
