Flash Player Projected to Reach 70% in 6 Months

January 9th, 2007 by ryanstewart

Aral Balkan has a great writeup of the FlashForward Keynote today at MacWorld but one tidbit was too interesting not to highlight:

Flash Player Adoption update. Flash Player 9 is projected to reach over 70% penetration in its first six months. In comparison, Flash Player 8 took 9 months to reach over 80% and Flash Player 7 took twelve months to break 70% penetration. Basically, the adoption rate of the Flash Player is accelerating with each player release and continues to do so with Flash Player 9.

Flash Adoptoin The official page doesn’t yet list these updated estimates but regardless that’s a mighty impressive jump. It’s getting to 70% in half the time it took Flash Player 7. Mannu has a graph of the old penetration stats on his Flickr page that show estimates before Flash Player 9 came around.
